Creating shapes and objects from mud

The process of creating functional and decorative pieces from mud is fascinating for me. All the parts of this procedure are quite simple but at the same time require great attention to detail. Experimenting is also a crucial aspect of pottery as there are so many variables, which can go wrong or right as a matter of fact, one can never fully explore the possibilities of this form of art.

About me

Mud and water…

We make all our products 100% by hand in our small and not-so ideal workshop in Orgaz, Toledo, Spain. We purchase the basic materials from Spanish providers and make everything in-house and sell it to you directly from our webshop or artisan markets throughout the country.

Throwing…

One of the most important steps in the whole process is throwing. This is when you create the shape of the piece and there is no going back after it. It requires a lot of practice to become an expert…

Trimming…

Trimming comes after throwing. When the piece is close to leather-hard, it is ready to trim to give the shape the final touches, to perfect the bottom and determine the thickness.
